Steve hasbeen involved with railway operations for over 30 years, never knowingly changing employer but during that time working for British Rail, Railtrack, Network Rail, Railway Safety, and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB). Steve has now ventured outside the formal rail family into the land of the contractor come consultant. Over the time period of Steve’s career so far, the railway has faced a number of nasty accidents that have resulted in fatalities and major injuries. The good news though, is that the gap between train accidents is growing longer and according to industry risk models the continuous improvement in safety is progressing well. We have been in the news for all sorts of reasons, however, fantastically not because of train accidents.
